A keepsake, not an official star name. Only the International Astronomical Union (IAU) names stars. Our keepsakes are downloads you make on your own device, sold on Stripe’s secure page. Refunds: 30 days, no questions asked.

1. What a keepsake is, and is not

A keepsake is a set of picture and PDF files with a name you choose for a real star, the star’s real catalogue details, and charts. It does not give anyone ownership of a star or of a name, and the name is not recorded anywhere that astronomers use. Other people may choose the same star. See The IAU on buying stars and star names.

2. The free tools

The sky map and star pages are free to use. We work hard to make the star positions right and test them against outside sources, but we cannot promise they are free of every error. They are not for navigation or safety.

3. Prices and paying

The Star Keepsake costs US$12 and the Star Keepsake + Sky Map costs US$15, in US dollars. Stripe may show the amount in your own currency. Payments are taken by Stripe on its secure checkout page. Any sales tax or VAT that applies where you live is shown at checkout before you pay. Stripe’s terms also apply to the payment.

4. Downloads

Nothing is printed or posted. After paying, you make the files on the download page, on your own device. The download page keeps working: bookmark it. If anything goes wrong with the files, email us and we will help.

5. Refunds

Refunds: 30 days, no questions asked. If you change your mind for any reason, email us within 30 days of buying, tell us the email address you paid with, and we will refund you in full. See refunds.

6. Using your files

Your keepsake files are yours for personal use: print them, frame them, share them and give them as gifts. Please do not sell them, or edit them to say astronomers use the name.
